Tell us a little bit about yourself & what you do at GraVoc:

My name is Paul Lincoln; I live in Maryland. I’m the Director of Software Development at GraVoc, and I’ve been with the company for over a decade.

I’m the technical lead for GraVoc, working primarily on Microsoft ERP product implementations. I coordinate the development group, manage DevOps, and workflow deployments, making sure that all our processes adhere to certain standards. I also work as a developer.

How did you find GraVoc?

When I was in the Marines, I got my Marine occupational specialty in communications, which consists of wireless, satellite, telephone, and data technologies. I focused more on the data in the Marines. When I got out, I looked at different occupations and found myself drawn to software development.

What drew you to pursue a career in technology?

I was working with a recruiter who found GraVoc. One day, I got a phone call from our CEO, David Gravel, while he was driving home, and he interviewed me on the spot. I was a CRM developer at the time, and, I suppose, the rest is history.

What do you enjoy the most about working for GraVoc?

I like the camaraderie and that GraVoc is a family-owned business. Our CEO’s main mantra is treat everyone like family, and that has certainly been the case for me.

Favorite projects you’ve worked on so far?

I like projects that introduce us to newer technologies, such as data warehousing. Our first data warehousing project was very interesting. I enjoyed looking in the Azure DevOps space, migrating to the cloud, and seeing that transition over time.

Where are we likely to find you outside of work?

I do like to go to the gym when I have time. Outside of that, I spend most of my time hanging out with my 8-year-old son.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to people who want to pursue a career in technology?

Stay relevant. The technology landscape is constantly changing; being able to ride the wave of technology and roll with it as it changes is key. The job requires the ability to adapt and thrive in an environment of constant change.
