why is cybersecurity awareness important for businesses?
Many small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) often underestimate their risk because they think they don’t have anything of value to make them a target for hackers. This, however, is far from the truth. A study showed that 43% of cyberattacks target small businesses, and yet, only 14% are sufficiently prepared to protect themselves.
Just like bigger businesses, SMBs can also carry a sizeable volume of personal and financial data from customers or employees. A lack of preparedness means hackers can more easily breach an SMB to steal this data and enjoy a good payday.
