The Results are In …

If you are a loyal Microsoft Dynamics GP user with no immediate plans to migrate to a different ERP, you’re not alone!

Our partner, AccountingWare – the firm behind ActivReporter, an Excel-based financial reporting software for Dynamics GP – surveyed 164 financial and accounting professionals who are current Dynamics GP users and found that 62% of the respondents plan to continue using the ERP product for the foreseeable future. Most of the survey respondents are experienced decision makers who hold manager-level or above positions. The survey results and other observations are detailed in AccountingWare’s 2023 Report on the Future of Dynamics GP.

of companies staying with GP for the foreseeable future

According to AccountingWare’s report:

“When asked about the decision-making timeline for Dynamics GP, most participants said they will not be making any decisions for the foreseeable future. This indicates that most people are content with GP as their ERP software.”

Given GP’s user-friendly interface, strong accounting features, and ability to connect with other applications like Microsoft Power Platform, it’s no surprise that users are sticking with the ERP system. The report also offers interesting insights on surveyed users’ thoughts on GP migration timeline and complexity, confidence in Dynamics 365 Business Central, cloud preferences, and more.

The Future of GP

The survey results underscore user confidence in Dynamics GP on the heels of Microsoft’s commitment to support the product. In October 2022, Microsoft put an end to speculation that Dynamics GP was going to be retired by confirming support for the product through 2028 and beyond under its new Modern Lifecycle Policy. Mike Morton, Vice President of Dynamics 365 Business Central at Microsoft, assured users of the longevity of Dynamics GP in a LinkedIn post, saying, “If you are an existing GP customer, you can be confident in using Dynamics GP to run your business for years to come.”

While Microsoft will devote major investments to its Dynamics 365 products – such as Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics 365 Finance + SCM – Dynamics GP users who are not looking to migrate to another ERP platform just yet can continue to leverage GP for business growth as new releases will ensure the system remains up to date and functional.

Besides support and updates from Microsoft, Dynamics GP users can also count on partners like GraVoc to continue enhancing the ERP product’s functionality through new features and integrations.
