Preparing for Dynamics GP Modern Authentication Deadline [October 2022]

Do you process business emails from within Dynamics GP?

One of our most critical business functions is communicating with email to our business partners, and we want to let you know that there are changes to be aware of if you rely on processing emails from within Dynamics GP.

The older method of SMTP Authentication used for processing email in Dynamics GP is currently being throttled back, and eventually will be going away effective October 1, 2022. What this means is that if your company is still using Basic Authentication to send out emails through GP, which is typically the case for those using older versions of GP, you may experience disruptions to your email and workflow functionality.

The reason Microsoft is making this shift from Basic Authentication to Modern Authentication is primarily for security reasons. Enabling Modern Authentication allows businesses to utilize multi-factor authentication (MFA), making communications more secure. Since Basic Authentication will be retiring for Exchange Online and Office 365 tenants in October of this year, it will ultimately be a requirement to move to Modern Authentication to be able to send emails through Dynamics GP.

Does this apply to my version of Dynamics GP?

If you are on one of the two most recent releases, either Dynamics GP 18.3 or 18.4, this message may not apply because you already have most the important updates. For any business using Dynamics GP 2016 or older versions, your version is no longer supported, and you are missing out on potentially over 200+ new features and enhancements and fixes.
