At a Glance
Coravin relied on Microsoft Dynamics GP for years as their core financial and operational system. However, as order volumes grew and business complexity increased, Dynamics GP began to show its limitations. Processes were becoming cumbersome, the chart of accounts required restructuring, and integrations with key eCommerce and logistics platforms were increasingly difficult to maintain.
Recognizing the need for a modern, scalable ERP, the company selected Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (FSCM) to support its next phase of growth. Based on a longstanding partnership for Dynamics GP support, Coravin chose GraVoc once again to lead this ERP modernization project, trusting our deep product knowledge and proven track record.
"GraVoc was a trusted partner throughout our ERP journey. Their knowledge of both our legacy GP environment and Dynamics 365 made the transition smooth and successful. We now have a modern, connected system that scales with our business." - David Krupinski, Chief Executive Officer
The Challenge
Navigating tight timelines, integrations & a major platform shift
Coravin’s transition from Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 came with several significant challenges:
- Tight Timeline: The project needed to move quickly to align with strategic business deadlines and the company’s 2025 busy season.
- Limited Budget: The company required an enterprise-grade ERP solution that would deliver long-term value without excessive customization.
- Complex Integrations: The company’s operations relied on connectivity with third-party logistics (3PL) warehouses and Shopify for eCommerce – both critical to order fulfillment. These integrations spanned across multiple legal entities connected to multiple third-party logistics warehouses with unique warehousing software.
- Brand-New Platform: Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management represented a major leap from Dynamics GP, requiring careful planning, data migration, and change management.
Too many disconnected systems were creating inefficiencies, and Coravin needed an ERP that could move fast and connect a network of 3PL warehouses and Shopify stores without relying on layers of custom code.
The Solution
Streamlining operations with Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management
Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management quickly became the clear fit for Coravin once we defined their goals and pain points.
Built on Microsoft Azure and equipped with real-time insights and AI capabilities, the platform provided the scalability and intelligence Coravin needed to streamline operations. Dynamics 365 FSCM checked every box.
Here’s the structured framework we followed for the company’s FSCM implementation:
Business Process Review
GraVoc’s multidisciplinary team of Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Functional Consultants, and Software Development experts conducted detailed joint process design workshops with the client’s Finance, Operations, and eCommerce teams to understand:
- How the business had evolved since the original Dynamics GP implementation
- Key pain points in order management, reporting, and fulfillment
- Opportunities to streamline workflows and leverage native Dynamics 365 FSCM capabilities
Customization Audit & Rationalization
Dynamics GP had several custom processes and third-party add-ons.
Our team:
- Identified functions that could be replaced with out-of-the-box Dynamics 365 features
- Minimized custom code to simplify future upgrades and reduce maintenance
Data Mitigation Strategy
GraVoc implemented a structured data migration approach:
- Legacy transactional data was archived for audit and compliance
- Master data — customers, vendors, and product catalogs — was cleaned, validated, and migrated to Dynamics 365
- Custom mappings were developed to align data between Dynamics GP and D365 schema structures
Systems Integration
Given Coravin’s extensive third-party ecosystem, integration was critical. GraVoc assisted their internal IT team in the design of:
- Real-time data flows between Dynamics 365 and Shopify for eCommerce orders
- Automated communication with 3PL warehouse systems for inventory and fulfillment visibility
- Financial and operational dashboards powered by Power BI for leadership insight
Training & Change Management
To ensure adoption and confidence across teams, GraVoc provided:
- Hands-on workshops for Finance, Operations, and Customer Service users
- Role-based training materials tailored to the client’s processes
- Dedicated post-go-live support to guide users through the transition period
