GraVoc is a WP Engine Agency Partner Awards 2025 Finalist

The Committed to Give Back Site Achievement Award recognizes agencies that build mission-driven WordPress sites for nonprofits or community causes, making a positive impact through digital work.

Established in 1991, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Visiting Professors and Scholars Program welcomes outstanding scholars to MIT for visiting appointments. The Institute aspires to attract candidates who are, in the words of Dr. King, “trailblazers in human, academic, scientific and religious freedom.”

The design direction for the website was meant to elevate the MLK Scholars. As inspiration and direction, instead of choosing a simple roster of academic leaders – we chose to treat this more akin to a hall-of-fame. Our team’s design elevates the MLK Scholars’ presence and voices on the website, helping inspire community engagement and support of the program. We also chose to amplify the voice of Dr. King throughout the site, delivering meaningful quotes that reinforce the values he embodied.

The powerful WordPress platform also helped ensure continued content updates via embedded news feeds and publishing activities. Integration of video on the website helped add more dimension to each of the scholars, offering an insight into their research activities and outcomes while at MIT.

The new MIT MLK Scholars site supported the relaunch and representation of the program, helping revitalize interest. The website saw a sharp 4x increase in visits that persists even months later.
