Employee Spotlight: Felicia Wager, Full-Stack Developer

As a full-stack developer at GraVoc, Felicia has been instrumental in designing apps that make work easier for our clients. Besides closely collaborating with customers on developing intuitive web and mobile apps, she also plays a key role in enhancing our internal time tracking app. In our latest employee spotlight, Felicia talks about her work at GraVoc, favorite projects, and leveraging AI innovations in app development!

Tell us a little bit about yourself & what you do at GraVoc:

My name is Felicia Wager; I live in Massachusetts, and I’m a full-stack developer at GraVoc.

Here at GraVoc, we build cloud, web, and mobile applications. Our team primarily uses JavaScript and TypeScript with Node and React, as well as a lot of AWS tools for app development, but we do have experience with a lot of different technologies.

what drew you to pursue a career in app development?

I have always had a passion for math and logic; I got my bachelor’s degree in mathematics. I spent some time in education before discovering my love of coding.

Favorite projects you’ve worked on so far?

One of my favorite projects involved us building a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for a cannabis testing company. We got to go into the lab and learn their process from start to finish to build a solution that could assist with every step of their testing process – from tracking samples to reporting test results to the state. It was very rewarding to see their processes move from stacks of paper to a streamlined workflow that could help the whole company.

Another project I loved working on is Iris, a time tracking application that we use internally at GraVoc. Along with time tracking, we also use Iris to track projects and budgets as well as for reporting. Designing Iris has been a unique experience because we get to be the customer and developer, so it’s a nice way to put ourselves in our customers’ shoes and fully understand their process.

What do you enjoy the most about working for GraVoc?

My favorite thing about working for GraVoc is the people. We work with amazing customers, but it’s also our team. From my colleagues to my boss as well as other departments, we have a collaborative family environment that I really appreciate.

Where are we likely to find you outside of work?

Outside of work, you’re likely to find me hanging out with family and friends, adoring my lovely pets, and hopefully enjoying the nice weather here in Massachusetts.

What new product or innovation in the app development space are you most excited about?

AI and machine learning! I’m excited to be able to implement these new technologies into some of our projects and take them to the next level.
