Tell us a little bit about yourself & what you do at GraVoc:
My name is Dana Chirieac. I live in Savannah, Georgia, and work remotely for GraVoc. I am the Lead Software Engineer in our Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management practice. I have been working with this system for the past 22 years. At GraVoc, we work on new implementations, rescue implementations, and upgrades. Our model is that we implement a system and continue supporting customers post deployment. This helps us build trust because we understand our customers’ challenges and can help support their future growth. It’s a true partnership.
What led you to pursue a career in tech & how did you find GraVoc?
I always loved Math; I was a Math Olympiad when I was young, so I have always been attracted to logic and technology science. This inspired me to pursue a career in technology. Before I joined GraVoc, I worked as an application manager for an end user. We had a Dynamics AX 2009 system. It was a very stressful time, and I decided I needed to pursue a career with more work-life balance. GraVoc reached out and it was an instant match! I had the skills they needed, and they had an environment that worked for me. And, today, it still does, which explains why I have been here since 2012!
What do you enjoy the most about working for GraVoc?
The environment! The kind of work I do here, I can do at any company that is a Microsoft Partner. But here, the team spirit and community are what keep me at GraVoc and get me excited. I communicate with my colleagues, we collaborate. If someone has a question, it will never go unanswered. The sense of community and constant collaboration give me a lot of job satisfaction.
Where are we likely to find you outside of work?
My mother is a visual artist, so I have always been attracted to the arts! So, outside of work, I go see a lot of shows. I also dabble in some ceramics and watercolor art. I live near the beach, so I also enjoy walks on the beach.
What’s one piece of advice you'd give to people who want to pursue a career in technology?
Don’t be scared, it is a very rewarding profession. It’s very satisfying to think of a solution and then see it work. So, I would tell people, keep an open mind and don’t be afraid to try things. It’s a great feeling to find solutions, implement them, and help make peoples’ experience easier.
