The Thomas E. Smith Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to bettering the lives of those affected by and living with paralysis as well as supporting preventive innovations that decrease the risk of spinal cord injuries.

The organization approached GraVoc’s team about a website redesign to refresh the site’s look and feel. The key goals of this website project were to build awareness about the organization’s programs and grants as well as encourage donations. Our team leveraged WordPress to enhance the website’s usability and design, allowing the storytelling and photography elements to take center stage and engage site visitors.

On the website’s homepage, our team used creative design elements such as a sliding image banner, logo carousel, and number counter to provide site visitors with a comprehensive overview of the organization’s mission, donor impact by the numbers, corporate partners, and blog.

Content strategy was key to fostering a deep connection with the Thomas E. Smith Foundation’s target audience and moving them to get involved with the organization. So, our team designed the ‘Who We Are’ section. The Thomas’ Story webpage within this section is the website’s key storytelling asset. Through powerful, authentic content and images, the webpage highlights Thomas Smith’s personal journey with spinal-cord injuries and how these experiences fueled his passion for building the organization.

The ‘Who We Are’ section further emphasizes the organization’s mission along with facts and figures on the cost of living with spinal cord injury. This section also features a vibrant ‘Meet The Team’ webpage with headshots and detailed bios of the organization’s co-founders and staff.

The ’Get Involved’ section is another key content area of the website. The section features visually engaging and informational webpages that showcase the organization’s events, such as the golf tournament, collaboration with the Boston Bruins, efforts with the Boston Marathon, look-up line innovation, and more. Site visitors can browse information on each program, along with images and videos, before proceeding to click on a strategic call-to-action button that links to the organization’s donation portal.

The Thomas E. Smith Foundation also provides individual grants to support paraplegics and quadriplegics paralyzed due to spinal cord injury. So, our team designed the ‘Grant Recipients’ webpage, featuring an eye-catching image gallery of people who have received financial assistance through the program. These images allow site visitors to visualize the impact of these grants and make a donation to support the cause.

Site visitors can further check out the ‘Speaking Opportunities’ webpage to book Thomas for speaking engagements. Our team also included a user-friendly contact form on the website, allowing site visitors to easily get in touch with the organization.

Our team is thrilled with the new design of the Thomas E. Smith Foundation website! The new website is a great informational and visually engaging resource for anyone looking to learn more about the organization’s mission, events, and grants. We look forward to collaborating with the Thomas E. Smith Foundation on future creative projects!
