GraVoc Associates will be represented by staff and family members at the Progeria Research Foundation’s 10th Annual International Race for Research on September 10th, which will include a 5K race and a 2 mile walk. Among the runners from GraVoc are 2010 winner Dan Vassallo of the information security practice and Vice President Catherine Gravel, who will be looking to defend her age group title. GraVoc has also been designated as a “Watering Hole Sponsor” for the event.

The International Race for Research is the signature fundraising event of the Progeria Research Foundation, a group dedicated to raising awareness and funding medical research on the disease. Also known as a “premature aging” syndrome, Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome causes accelerated aging, growth failure, heart disease, and stroke; children diagnosed with Progeria die of heart disease at an average age of 13 years. The Progeria Research Foundation has made enormous strides over the past decade in raising public awareness and providing information about the disease. As a result of PRF’s efforts, the gene mutation that causes Progeria was discovered in 2003. GraVoc is proud to support a local charity with such significant worldwide impact. Remember to check back in September for this year’s race results!
