Last month, we posted some recommendations for holiday gifts and gadgets, and chances are you or someone you know received the latest and greatest technology in the past few weeks. Now it’s just a matter of setting it up correctly and using it to its fullest potential – no problem, right?
Maybe you’re fairly tech-savvy, but for many people the task of getting a new gadget set up without messing up is nothing short of daunting. Luckily, the folks over at Gizmodo have it covered. They’ve posted a list of guidelines in their site’s “How-2” section that cover everything from mastering your new Smartphone and learning the ins and outs of Windows 8 to using a new camera and setting up a home theater.
For example, in the “New Smartphone Set Up Guide,” Gizmodo advises on maximizing battery life, migrating contacts, and setting up email and calendars. The guide also contains information on syncing media, downloading “essential” apps, and making the most of the phone’s operating system. Even if you’re aware of many of these tips and tricks, the guides serve as a type of refresher course on best practices for using your new technology.
