A recent study at UC San Diego discovered that traditional methods used to securely wipe data from magnetic hard drives are less effective on solid-state drives. As organizations look to switch to solid-state drives for their dependability and performance, they should also look to increase diligence in the area of data destruction. Therefore, the best method to ensure data security on solid-state drives is to implement full-disk encryption upon installation and physically destroy the drive when it is no longer needed.
