This past Saturday, GraVoc’s Information Security practice attended the Security BSides Boston 2015 conference. At this conference, our IT team were able to hear cutting edge presentations on all issues related to security, specifically from new methods for hacking to implementing the NIST cybersecurity framework within an organization.

There were many vendors at the event showcasing new forms of software used in the security industry, such as suites used for monitoring, pen-testing, or network scanning. There were also firewall and anti-virus vendors showing their products and advising the attendees on innovative ways to lock down a network.

The GraVoc Information Security team also was able to observe a special keynote address featuring a doctoral student at McGill University in Montreal, Molly Sautner. She spoke on internet hacktivism, virtual civil disobedience, and consumer inalienable cyber rights. The presentation for our team was a fresh perspective on the way that terms of service agreements protect corporations, business’ and organizations almost entirely. All in all, it was a great event, and our team is looking forward to attending more in the future.
