With the summer behind us and the fall underway, many organizations will be working to finish up security projects for 2011 and begin planning for 2012.  If vulnerability assessment is on the list, we urge them to include printers within the scope of the test.   While the reasons we have are many, perhaps the strongest argument in favor of this notion stems from the fact that some printers can be easily sniffed, discovered, and accessed over the Internet, without breaking into anything at the network level.  A recent article in PCWorld  provides more detail.
