This week, the FFIEC finally released the much-anticipated update to the 2005 guidelines on “Authentication in an Internet Banking Environment.” The update will require financial institutions to make several improvements to the security of their online banking delivery channels, including: annual risk assessment, risk-based layered security programs, improved multi-factor authentication, and customer awareness and education initiatives.
