Dave Gravel - CEO

David has a diverse background with 25 years experience in information security, business process and operations, finance, accounting, human resources, and software systems. As the founder, as well as the President/CEO of GraVoc Associates since 1993, David puts his extensive knowledge and experience to work for GraVoc's customers. As President/CEO of GraVoc, David has been directly involved in all of the company's operations. He has watched the firm grow from its inception to its present state, and his knowledge of businesses' challenges, in terms of information security, information technology, finances, and data organization has grown with the business. He has also been a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and is a Certified Information Security Manger (CISM). With GraVoc, David has undertaken a variety of tasks, serving in a CFO capacity at four different start-up ventures. Among many other responsibilities, he oversaw the implementation of finance systems and controls for these companies, implemented information security systems for these firms, and helped each firm provide multi-million dollar private equity offerings.

For eleven years, David worked for Selecterm, a computer rental business based in Danvers, MA. During his time there, he oversaw Selecterm's implementation of the human resources, finance, and information security systems during the dawn of this technological age. David also directed four acquisitions of smaller computer rental agencies, and ultimately helped orchestrate the sale of Selecterm to GE Capital. After serving as a consultant for GE Capital for six months, he founded GraVoc Associates.

David graduated cum laude from Salem State College in Salem, MA with a degree in English/Education. He continued his education at Babson College, where he graduated cum laude with an MBA in Finance/Information Systems. During his time in both college and graduate school, he served as a program specialist with the Massachusetts Department of Education's Migrant Program. David worked with the children of migrant farmers, writing grants, developing programs, and being exposed to every type of innovative project imaginable.

David's passion for education and making a difference in the community has not left him, as he spent eight years on the Peabody School Committee, including several terms as the chairman of the Finance/Negotiations Committee. He has recently been elected to his first term on the Peabody City Council. David is also an active member of the Peabody Chamber of Commerce and is the co-chairperson of the Peabody/Lynnfield YMCA Capital Campaign. His dedication to the YMCA cause led to him training for the 2007 Boston Marathon. At age 50, this was his first marathon and he finished with a time of 4:48. David has also been on the Board of Directors for Kids Kount, The Peabody Track Foundation for Youth Health and Fitness, The Peabody Education 21, and the Greater Lynn YMCA.

David has received numerous awards for his lifetime of community service and involvement, including the George Peabody "Champion of Education" Award, The Massachusetts Association of School Committees Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Harry Ankeles Award given to a businessperson with "outstanding" contributions to the community.
